New Green Lantern Trailer Explores the Origins of the Corp.

The latest trailer for Martin Campbell’s “Green Lantern” gives non-comic book reading fans a quick rundown of the origins of the Green Lantern Corp. Basically, willpower + ring = intergalactic beat cop. I think this is also the first time Parallax, the movie’s main alien menace, is mentioned by name, though I could be wrong. Check it out below.

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan. Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Tim Robbins, Angela Bassett, Taika Cohen, Jeff Wolfe, and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Willing into screens everywhere June 17, 2011.

Damn!. Is it something wrong with me???. I think everytime I see something new of this movie I don´t like something.

Now that we get more “cosmic time” in this trailer it looks more like a video game than a feture film. I don´t feel the hype with Green Lantern. I feel in my bones is going to be a TERRIBLE film. Of course, I won´t know for sure until I see the movie, so maybe I´m wrong.

I think though that some things looks rather cool, like when he´s swordfighting Sinestro and his look at the 02:39 minute. But nothig more.

I was curious as to how you’d respond to this Lexavi80 – I thought this would have been a good selling trailer for those on the fence!

I think the main purpose of this trailer is to get those who don’t know who GL is interested in the film – something I thought Thor missed out on (not that it seems to be hurt by it mind you!).

This is by far my favourite trailer for GL – I’m loving the ring constructs – I’m glad that they’ve stuck to the comics with the story – and I’m loving the overall look and feel.

To each their own I suppose…

Maybe is some inner prejudice because of the early lay down I got from the film. I honestly don´t know.

I want this film to work SO BAD!!. I love GL comics so I was really hoping this film, but damn… I just don´t feel the hype and that´s strange!.

I don’t agree with you Lex you have to remember GL is character is involved a lot being in space. So I think they’ve done a pretty good job with the CGI affects not sure how much more they can do with it. Afterall how many movies have you seen involves that much details in space then with this one. I’m sold on the the action I just hope the story and not too chessy. That’s all I care about it otherwise it’s just another eye candy movie with special effects period.

Overall that was much better than any of the others. I still have some reservations. Oh, and why do they keep putting Hall reciting the oath with the growling LIGHT at the end. It is annoying. Don’t they have him saying it in a more controlled and stoic way in the film? Just my opinion.

This is a much better trailer that should have been their 1st trailer. They’ve captured the right tone and the CGI has improved a lot. The last scene is where he flies off, is VERY Green Lanternish. Maybe they should have chosen another sound effect for when Hal flies off instead of the fighter jet sound. But I could understand them using that because Hal IS a jet fighter pilot and maybe that’s what he imagines his whole self as(a jet) through the ring which makes the ring produce that sound. Good trailer.

What’s up with that mask? Do they really need cgi on EVERYTHING? He looks crossed-eyed.

    • Ulik

LOL! Yeah the mask is still a problem for me too, LOL! They should have made him wear a real mask then put cgi on top of the mask so as not to mess with the symmetry of his eyes and face. *sigh* Oh, well.

  • Lexavi80

    The guy´s cross-eyed, dude!.
