New Haywire Trailer is 80-Seconds of Relentless Asskicking

Haywire (2011) Movie PosterYOW. Oh, Steven Soderbergh, what have you done? I always did think the man who gave us the “Ocean’s 11″ movies had some hardcore fighting film in him. Now as it turns out, he’s done just that with “Haywire”, casting MMA fighter Gina Carano in the lead to boot. She’s a noob, but nobody else in the cast is. Soderbergh has surrounded Carano with an insane amount of talent here, from Ewan McGregor to Bill Paxton to Michael Fassbender. (Hey, that’s Michael Fassbender!) Check out the latest trailer for the movie. It’s punching, kicking, and Gina Carano ass-whuppin’ awesome.

Beautiful freelance covert operative Mallory Kane (Gina Carano) is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can’t authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Mallory is quickly dispatched on another mission to Dublin. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her.

Starring Gina Carano, Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Angarano, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas, Bill Paxton and directed by Steven Soderbergh.

“Hey, that Michael Fassbender!” is a dick. Cheapshot, Magneto

Good to see the action looks pretty badass regardless of who’s doing the fighting and running.

Haha, yeah, he just totally blindsided her, didn’t he? Very ungentlemanly of him.

I’m curious to see if Carano can carry a movie on the acting end. She seems to have the ass kickery and badassness aspect down, however.

It’s funny, I remember seeing Carano almost, oh, maybe six years ago when she was just starting out in MMA. It was on MSNBC very late at night, I think, one of their exposes on female MMA fighters. I remember thinking even then, “Wow, that girl is definitely going to end up in movies.” Turns out, she has. Go figure.

I remember her from the reboot of American Gladiators with Hulk Hogan and Leila Ali hosting. She was the stand out hottie of the show. Then I saw the MMA thing on her a year or so later. Hopefully she can pull of the acting and evetually be cast as She-Hulk in a Marvel adaptation of the character.

I think she bulked up quite a bit for American Gladiator. She was never that “big”. She came down a bit since, which is probably a good idea if she wants a career in movies.

Yeah, the record of real-life fighters and athletes trying to translate their talents to acting isn’t great, but if nothing else, you couldn’t wish for a better debut
