After the endless slew of Asian horror movies and all their remakes and sequels, who can’t go for a good ol fashion American roadside slasher film about spam college students? At least, that’s what I think the makers behind “Bloody 27″ are going for. The official site for the movie is now up, and according to the latest posting on it, the film has since gone into production. A trailer, pictures, and other goodies to follow, one presumes. Find more about the film below.
On a desolate stretch of old highway lies the terror of Bloody 27. For years, people have disappeared along a stretch of old citrus farms and sugar factories. Few people know the truth and they will guard the secret with their lives.
Things quickly deteriorate when a young college student named Jenny (Annalisa Kyler) has car trouble just outside of an old town. When she disappears, her closest friends quickly form a search party to track her down. Leading the pack is heroic Doug (Martin Seijo), whose is bouncing back from a failed career in professional baseball. His best friend Bruce (Michael Thomas Dunn) is dragged along to help the search (although Bruce makes it clear how much he didn’t want to come through endless bitching).
Also helping the search is Vanessa. She is a smart tomboy who is Jenny’s best friend. Vanessa is another reason why Bruce is miserable, he can’t stand her.
The film stars Annalisa Kyler, Martin Seijo, Allan Medina and Jamie Belanger. It will be written and directed by independent filmmaker Michael Thomas Dunn, and is planned for a limited theatrical release in late 2008.
