I really kinda feel bad for Tom Cruise. Not the “Ah, poor Tom,” sort of bad, but in the, “Ah, poor Tom, the dolt can’t do anything right” kinda bad. Sure, that whole Scientology thing is kinda messed up, but the grief this guy gets from everyone, it’s almost like people are TRYING to bury him just for his beliefs. Because of Tom’s attachment to “Valkyrie”, I think a lot of people are really missing out on the fact that this movie stars some pretty good people and is being directed (and was written) by some top talent here. But all anyone can talk about is Tom’s involvement, Scientology, the Germans, and car accidents on the set. Oh well, here’s a new image from the movie that may change all that — well, probably not, but it’s a new image anyways.
The “July 20 Plot” on Hitler’s life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler’s once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation’s government… He must kill Hitler himself.
Starring Tom Cruise, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Eddie Izzard, and directed by Bryan Singer.
