New Images and First Clip from Superman vs. the Elite

DC Comics Premiere has released four new images and the first official clip from their upcoming original animated movie, “Superman vs. The Elite”, based on Joe Kelly’s 2001 Superman comic book story arc, “What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice and the American Way?” Turns not, not too much, at least when you’re Superman and you’ve got lots to live up to, and the other guys don’t.

In the film, Superman goes up against The Elite, a band of ridiculously powered anti-heroes who don’t exactly live up to the status of “heroes”. In fact, they’re kind of fascists. Really ridiculously powered super fascists, as it turns out, and it’s up to Superman to stop them or die trying. And do it honorably, at that. Well, mostly, anyway.

“Superman vs. The Elite” features the voices of George Newbern as Superman, “NCIS” star Pauley Perrette as Lois Lane, and Robin Atkin Downes as Manchester Black, the limey leader of The Elite.

Supes does battle for God and country and apple pie on DVD and Blu-ray June 12, 2012 from Warner Home Video.

The animation looks pretty bad. Love Superman though. Wish it was animated in the style shown at the end of the video on that dvd cover.

The art style is supposed to evoke the over the top and bigger than life style that Doug Mahnke gives Superman in this story. It does look strange in stills but like Avnegers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Spectacular Spiderman looks much better in motion and with action. I DO have an issue with Manchester Black’s lips!!! LoL
