Walt Disney has released a preview of their upcoming 2014 titles, including new images from “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, “Maleficent”, “Need for Speed”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”, “Big Hero Six”, and “Into the Woods”.
Up first, here’s the cast of James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”, looking like they’ve seen better days. I like how Chris Pratt’s human character looks completely out of his element. The gang does some guarding on August 1, 2014.
There’s also this official synopsis for the film:
From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team — the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ratgag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
Yeah, sounds like “Farscape” to me, but whatever.
Here’s an action shot from Scott Waugh’s “Need for Speed”. It sells what it has to sell — crazy stunts involving fast cars. Getting all fast and furious on March 14, 2014.
Meryl Streep goes method again in Rob Marshall’s “Into the Woods”, due December 25, 2014.
A new look at Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson from the brothers Russos’ “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, saving the world April 4, 2014.
Who needs a hero? How about another look at Don Hall and Chris Williams’ “Big Hero 6″, rising to the occasion on November 7, 2014.
And finally, here’s Angelina Jolie as the titular character in Robert Stromberg’s “Maleficent”. Find out the other true story on May 30, 2014.
