I still think calling “War Inc” by its original title of “Brand Hauser” would have been the better move, if only because, well, “Brand Hauser” just sounds a lot cooler than “War Inc”, which just sounds way too obvious, as the film is one big middle finger to the American military complex and their ability to start wars at the drop of a hat for profit. But hey, if you had to start wars, what better way than for profit? Check out new stills from the movie that we just got in the mail. The flick stars John Cusack, Hilary Duff, Ben Kingsley, and Marisa Tomei, making a comeback after the UFO brought her back to Earth.
WAR, INC. is a political satire set in Turaqistan, a country occupied by an American private corporation run by a former US Vice-President (Dan Aykroyd). In an effort to monopolize the opportunities the war-torn nation offers, the corporation’s CEO hires a troubled hit man, played by John Cusack, to kill a Middle East oil minister. Now, struggling with his own growing demons, the assassin must pose as the corporation’s Trade Show Producer in order to pull off this latest hit, while maintaining his cover by organizing the high-profile wedding of Yonica Babyyeah (Hilary Duff) an outrageous Middle Eastern pop star, and keeping a sexy left wing reporter (Marisa Tomei) in check.
Starring John Cusack (also wrote & produced), Hilary Duff, Marisa Tomei, Joan Cusack, Sir Ben Kingsley and Dan Aykroyd.
The film will make its theatrical premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28, 2008, after a long, long delay. It will then open in limited release (re: New York and Los Angeles only, sorry) on May 23, 2008, before landing on DVD, where the studio probably wanted to send it in the beginning, I’d guess.
