New Images from The Red Baron

The Red Baron wasn’t such a bad dude once you got to know him. At least, that seems to be the premise behind the new German World War I movie “The Red Baron”. It’s about the world-famous flying ace, who was so good in the skies that he pimped out his plane in a bright red color so everyone would know who he was. Now that’s some gumption, as my uncle would say. Here are some more images from the movie. It co-stars the very busy Lena Headey from TV’s Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and “300”.

Baron Manfred von Richthofen (Schweighöfer) is the most feared and celebrated pilot of the German air force in World War I. To him and his companions, air combats are events of sporty nature, technical challenge and honorable acting, ignoring the terrible extent of war. But after falling in love with the nurse Käte (Headey), Manfred realizes he is only used for propaganda means. Caught between his disgust for the war, and the responsibility for his fighter wing, von Richthofen sets out to fly again.

Starring Matthias Schweighoefer, Til Schweiger, Tino Mewes, Jan Josef Liefers, Lena Headey, and directed by Nikolai Muellerschoen.

The Baron takes flight April 10, 2008 in Germany.
