Director Tom Green’s (no, not that Tom Green) “Monsters: Dark Continent” looks a heck of a lot better than I had expected. I’m not sure what kind of budget they had for this thing, but apparently they didn’t skimp on the visuals, cause the monsters here are pretty nice. Definitely not Syfy Channel material. It looks like Green had more to work with than Gareth Edwards did when he did the original “Monsters” back in 2010.
Anyways, check out more extensive footage from the “Monster” sequel in a new trailer. It’s too bad this movie will likely go straight to DVD (or these days, straight to VOD) in the states with a limited theatrical release, if that. That seems to be the usual route these days for films without a bona fide box office star.
Ten years on from the events of Monsters, and the ‘Infected Zones’ have now spread worldwide. In the Middle East a new insurgency has begun. At the same time there has also been a proliferation of Monsters in that region. The Army decide to draft in more numbers to help deal with this insurgency. We follow four fresh new recruits from Detroit as they all excitedly look forward to performing what they were trained to do.
Starring Joe Dempsie, Sofia Boutella, Johnny Harris, Sam Keeley, Kyle Soller, Nicholas Pinnock, and Parker Sawyers.
The UK gets it first this November 24th.
