I’m just going to get this out of the way now cause it’s bound to just keep happening. I’m sorry for all the damned usage of the word awesome! Okay. Disclaimer out of the way. So “The Lego Movie” is coming to DVD/Blu-ray and it is awesome, especially if you have the “Everything is Awesome” Edition like I do, you know, because I’m awesome!

Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street”) “The Lego Movie” stars Chris Pratt (“Guardians of the Galaxy”) as Emmet, the ultimate nobody. In a by-the-book world (literally) where everybody fits in, he can’t even do that despite giving it his all. After stumbling upon a mysterious item, he is mistaken for the legendary Master Builder, and sets on a quest to save his and every other world from the evil President Business aka Lord Business voiced by Will Ferrell. Guiding him is the wise Vitruvius played by Morgan Freeman and no-nonsense WyldeStyle voiced by Elizabeth Banks. Along the way they meet they mysterious and brooding Batman (Will Arnett), cyborg-pirate Captain Metalbeard (Nick Offerman), adorable Unikitty (Allison Brie), and 80’s era Spaceman Benny (Charlie Day). Rounding out the cast is Liam Neeson in the dual role of Good Cop/Bad Cop, and he is hilarious. Actually, everyone is. And that’s what shocked me most — how often I found myself laughing out loud. They even found a way to throw some moral lessons into the film. It truly harkened back to a time where shows and films educated as well as entertained.

The thing that really blew me away though is the look of the movie. It looks like stop-motion animation but it’s all CGI. For anyone that’s ever played a Lego video game, you know what it’s like watching the figures build things. Take that to a new level, as the graphics are even more polished. This movie, like the toy, is about creativity. Just about every Lego ever created shows up in the movie. For the kids they’ll see Ninjago and Chima figures, for the adults there’s Star Wars and Benny! It’s really a great time and it never gets old, though that song does become a little less awesome after a while.

But even after the movie is over there’s more fun to be had. Fan shorts and behind-the-scenes featurettes are almost as fun as the movie itself. I will say this, they have me wanting to take a trip to LEGOLAND. Here’s what you get:
