New Poster For The Evil Dead Remake Makes A Bold Claim

Evil Dead (2013) Movie Poster

The new poster for the “Evil Dead” remake is borrowing a page from the playbook of the horror and exploitation films of yesteryear, making broad, unsubstantiated claims about greatness. In this case the one sheet asserts that this is “The most terrifying movie you will ever experience.”

That is a bold statement, especially because this isn’t a blurb from some random film critic, it’s just something the people behind the movie want you to know. I guess it’s good to get that out of the way going in. Who knows, maybe this will prove to be more than simple hyperbole or an egotistical boast on the part of the producers. I’ll admit, so far “Evil Dead” looks like it could be pretty awesome, this poster certainly is.

When a group of twenty-somethings head to a ramshackle cabin in the woods, they have no idea they’re in for the fight of their lives. After they stumble across the Book of the Dead, and the recording of an archeologist’s translation, an ancient evil awakens in the woods and comes after the friends.

Sam Raimi, who directed the original, and Bruce Campbell, who starred in the 1981 classic, handpicked director Fede Alvarez to helm the remake. Diablo Cody (“Juno”) handled the script, and the film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

“Evil Dead”, AKA “The Most Terrifying Movie You Will Ever Experience”, will be unleashed April 12, 2013.

And just for kicks, here’s another creepy picture from the film.
