“Prometheus” has quickly become my most anticipated movie of the summer. Sorry “Dark Knight Rises”, “Amazing Spider-Man”, and “Avengers”. Every bit of promotional material that comes out cranks up my level of excitement, and a new feature continues that trend. At this point I’m practically frothing at the mouth waiting for this.
Most of the one-minute forty-second video is the cast talking about what a dream it is to work with director Ridley Scott. I imagine it would be pretty cool to work with the helmer of “Alien” and “Blade Runner”, but that part is standard stuff. You hear about how Scott comes from the “all about everything school” of movie making, and Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace, and more, say things like he’s “real”, “at the top of his game”, and “pushes the envelope”. He is all of those things, probably more, but it gets to be a bit much.
The best part of the feature, the only real reason to watch it unless you want to listen to people kiss Ridley Scott’s ass, is the new footage. There’s a ton of new stuff, that, while it doesn’t give much on plot, does provide broad, sweeping looks at the world of “Prometheus”.
Scott’s return to sci-fi, a genre he helped define in the late 1970s and early 1980s, finally lands in theaters June 9.
