Here’s how you sell “Public Enemies” to the masses: a teaser trailer with Christian Bale and Johnny Depp blasting away at each other in the streets with Tommy guns ala Mann’s “Heat”. Guys will go nuts at the scene, and the ladies will appreciate the sight of Depp and Bale all bloodthirsty like. The film doesn’t open until later this Summer, but here are more images from Michael Mann’s sure-to-be Depression-era blast-a-thon, “Public Enemies”, starring Depp as anti-hero John Dillinger and Bale as the G-man after him.
Set during the Depression-era’s great crime wave, the story of the government’s attempt to stop legendary criminals John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd. This operation transformed the FBI into the first federal police force from the powerless agency it once was.
Also co-starring Channing Tatum, Billy Crudup, Leelee Sobieski, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, Stephen Graham, Emilie de Ravin, Marion Cotillard, Stephen Dorff.
