New Punisher: War Zone Movie Posters are Punishingly Shadowy

In Lexi Alexander’s reboot/sorta-sequel to Jonathan Hensleigh’s 2004 “The Punisher”, “War Zone” swaps a leading man and the bright, tropic daylight of Florida for the gritty, filthy alleyways and nights of New York City. Basically, Alexander is giving you Frank Castle in his natural environment. (Seriously, what was Hensleigh thinking with his version of The Punisher? Castle and Sunny Florida. Christ.) Anyhoo. Ray Stevenson leads his one-man assault on crime and other assorted baddies in “War Zone”, four new posters of which have arrived from Lionsgate.

Waging his one-man war on the world of organized crime, ruthless vigilante-hero Frank Castle sets his sights on overeager mob boss Billy Russoti. After Russoti is left horribly disfigured by Castle, he sets out for vengeance under his new alias: Jigsaw. With the “Punisher Task Force” hot on his trail and the FBI unable to take Jigsaw in, Frank must stand up to the formidable army that Jigsaw has recruited before more of his evil deeds go unpunished.

Starring Ray Stevenson, Dominic West, Julie Benz, Wayne Knight, Dash Mihok, Doug Hutchison, and Colin Salmon. Lexi Alexander (“Green Street Hooligans”) directs.

The bloodbath commences December 5.

These actually very closely resemble various recent Marvel Max The Punisher covers, it’s making me getting my hope up for the movie.

Yeah, the posters are a positive step in the promotion of this last non-in house Marvel movie, however it says a lot that we are hoping that the posters are a sign that the movie might actually be decent. Tells me that we haven’t had much to boost our morale up ’till now…
