New Resident: Evil Retribution Trailer Teases Final Battle, Things Flying at Your Face!

The “Resident Evil” franchise is such a guilty pleasure. I don’t even want to call it a horror franchise anymore, because really, it doesn’t even try to scare you, with its ridiculous action set pieces, Milla Jovovich slow-motion stunts, and characters taken straight from the games, familiar wardrobe and all. By the sixth installment (and there will be a sixth movie if this one is the hit I expect it to be), I suspect we’ll have seen every single character that ever appeared in the game show up in the movie series, either as themselves, a clone of themselves, or a zombie version. And I’ll probably still keep watching. Hey, what can I say, Milla Jovovich in a skin-tight pleather outfit blasting zombies is just ridiculously entertaining. All that is to say, get a load of this latest trailer for part five, “Retribution”.

The Umbrella Corporation’s deadly T-virus continues to ravage the Earth, transforming the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The human race’s last and only hope, Alice (Milla Jovovich), awakens in the heart of Umbrella’s most clandestine operations facility and unveils more of her mysterious past as she delves further into the complex. Without a safe haven, Alice continues to hunt those responsible for the outbreak; a chase that takes her from Tokyo to New York, Washington, D.C. and Moscow, culminating in a mind-blowing revelation that will force her to rethink everything that she once thought to be true. Aided by newfound allies and familiar friends, Alice must fight to survive long enough to escape a hostile world on the brink of oblivion. The countdown has begun.

Besides Jovovich, “Retribution” also stars Kevin Durand, Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, Johann Urb, Bingbing Li, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, and Colin Salmon.

Paul W.S. Anderson directs the film, due to blast your senses September 14, 2012.

Huh……so…….did the world REALLY end or not? Or is that what Ada mean by implanted memories?

    And Alice & Carlos……CALLED IT!!!

    • Nix

Did the world really end? Who knows at this point. I thought it was the end of the world in Part 3, aka “Extinction”, with desert everywhere. Turns out they just tossed aside that plot when part 4 came around. I guess it’ll be the END end when the box office dries up, would be my guess.

Cool premise. I was wondering what they could possibly do to revitalize this series. Looks like they found a way.

Yeah and normally this type of thing would just piss me off, but in a world where they can clone and genetically engineer people, having someone experience a whole shit load of horror, and tragedy and still come out a hero only to find out it wasn;t real isn’t really a stretch at all. Hell the whole fake memories is a page right out of comics.

  • BelmontHeir

Yeah, I don’t really understand the plot at all. Some people were even speculating this is a “reboot.” The opening ‘suburban paradise interrupted by zombie apocalypse’ is a bit too reminiscent of the opening to the “Dawn of the Dead” remake for me.

    • Xericho

I feel the opening was intentional to have it tie in with horror movies.

hmmm…. are they going to a plot where they say that the last 3 movies where just inside Alice’s head?!/!?!

      • wingcm

It did feel like that. They’ve killed off some cool characters in the last three movies, so it will be cool to see them back in the mix of things.
