New Sorcerer’s Apprentice Trailer Introduces Yuks, Old Man Shoes

The most surprising thing about Jon Turteltaub’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”? Disney hasn’t turned it into another “3D spectacular”. Talk about being behind the times, Disney! Ahem. So, here’s a new trailer for “Apprentice” that’s popped up over at the film’s Facebook page, which showcases a lot of the same footage we’ve seen before, plus some new ones and some yuk yuks. The film doesn’t seem to be taking itself too seriously, so that’s a plus. Cage is always at his best when he can wink at the audience.

Balthazar Blake is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath. Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler, a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protege. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Starring Jay Baruchel, Nicolas Cage, Monica Bellucci, Alfred Molina, Robert Capron, Teresa Palmer, Ethan Peck, Toby Kebbell, Alice Krige, and directed by Jon Turteltaub.

Put on some comfy shoes July 16, 2010.

The more I see the more interested I am. This looks like it may just be some silly fun, and I'm for that. And I agree Cage is at his best when things aren't completely serious.
