New Speed Racer International Trailers

By Nix | March 9, 2008 (12:46 pm) | More: Movie Trailers, Speed Racer (2008) Movie

I was surprised when it was announced that the Wachowskis were making a “Speed Racer” live-action movie, because I just don’t see how it would work, or how much of a movie it would be if you were older than, say, 10. Isn’t it all just car racing and what have you? But hey, the trailer certainly looks good, and from everything I’ve seen, including these two new international trailers, the movie has a lot going for it. Or at least, you can pay your $20 for your ticket and bucket of pop corn and hallucinate for a couple of hours. Fair trade, right?

Based on the classic 1960’s Japanese animated series chronicling the aspirations of a young race car driver as he attempts to obtain glory, with the help of his family and the Mach 5, the advanced car created by his father.

Speed racer go, go, goes May 9, 2008.

  1. This is the second time I’ve noticed you referring to a $20 movie ticket.

Where do you live that a movie ticket (or even a ticket WITH popcorn) costs $20?

I swear Hawaii is the last place with cheap movie tickets. Our best theater costs $9 and only gets cheaper for matinees or military. Not cheap, but a year ago is was $8 and before that was $7. Everywhere else is higher.

  2. $20 for a night at the movie for one person is lowballing it!
