Park Chan-wook’s English language debut “Stoker” is easily my favorite movie that I’ve seen so far this year, and odds are that it’s going to hang around until my end of the year best-of list. Peculiar and sinister, the characters are the core of the film, and this new behind-the-scenes featurette introduces you to the key players and a bit of their stories.

Strange and creepy start to finish, “Stoker” fits in with the dark thematic territory of Park’s previous films like “Oldboy”, “Thirst”, and “Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance”. At every step along the way the film subverts your expectations, building in one direction, only to reveal that what you thought was completely, totally wrong.

After India’s (Mia Wasikowski) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Matthew Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother Evelyn (Nicole Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

“Stoker” stars Wasikowska, Goode, Kidman, Dermot Mulroney, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, and Alden Ehrenreich. Opening in a limited release on March 1, 2013, “Stoker” will expand over the ensuing months.
