Or it could be called “Bow: Ultimate Weapon”. I’m not really sure which way the title is leaning at this point, but for now, we’ll refer to director Kim Han-min’s forthcoming “bow and arrow” adventure flick as “Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon”. From the looks of the latest trailer below, one can expect the following: stylish cinematography, lavish costumes, and plenty of arrow-related injuries. And even if the story is insanely weak, at least the film has that going for it.

Here’s what the film is all about:

13 years after the King Injo Revolt, the Chosun Dynasty is attacked by the Chung Dynasty of China. A young man named Na-mi leaves his demolished village to find his young sister, Ja-in, and her finance Su-koon, who were to wed on the very day of the attack. While on his mission to rescue her, he is being traced by Jushinta, a fierce Chung Warrior, and his band of malicious men who are out to stop him. Na-mi has but a day to rescue his sister before she is taken away to be a slave. When Na-mi finally finds his sister, Jushinta comes between them and a fierce battle between two of the finest warriors unfolds.

“Arrow: The Ultimate Weapon” opens in South Korean this August.

Looks good. I do like the action period pieces coming out of Korea. That spatula arrow head doesn’t look like it’d fly very straight though.

In Korean, do they have their real stand out superstars? Cuz, I notice in their new movies, I saw the unknown new actors all the time. At least in the US they have their real superstars, like Tom cruise, Brad Pitt etc. How about Korean?

Yes, they have their superstars just like in America. Won Bin, Jeon Ji-Hyeon, Lee Byung-Hun, Choi Min-Sik, Song Kang-Ho, Kim Tae-Hee to name a few. I actually think you see a lot of the same actors pop up in films. For example Song Kang-Ho has been in Thirst, The Good, Bad and the Weird, Lady Vengeance, The Host, Memories of Murder, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, JSA and Shiri, all Korean movies that are known in North America.
