Wow, Ryan Reynolds’ “Turbo” really crept up on us. Dreamworks already has the film scheduled for this July, which is lightning quick. I guess we can expect the promo rounds to start coming out fast and furious in the next few months, huh? (Ahem.)
Anyways, it looks like a good movie for the kids. Underdog story, a little guy taking on the big guys (literally, in this case), and all that good stuff. Lots of big names in the voice cast, not that that really matters to an audience. If the story doesn’t sell, I don’t think it matters at all who you have in the voice cast.
From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, Turbo is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.
Featuring the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Speeding into theaters this July 19, 2013.
