I seriously hope the J.J. Abrams-produced “Almost Human” does well on FOX and ends up running for a few good seasons, instead of the one season that I feel it’s going to get before it’s yanked. This show just looks way too expensive and too ambitious (visually and world-building wise, the story is pretty generic and been-there, done-that) for network TV. Given what it costs to put this thing together per episode, it would probably need to do crazy “The Walking Dead” ratings to last for more than a season on the airwaves.
Having said that, hey, one year of this badass looking sci-fi show wouldn’t be so bad. I know most people hate FOX for their ability to put out really great shows, only to cancel them a year later (aka pull a “Firefly”), but let’s face it, if FOX didn’t put these shows out in the first place, who would? It’s kind of a catch 22, I guess.
Anyways, take a gander at a new trailer for “Almost Human”, starring “Star Trek’s” Karl Urban as a human cop who is more artificial than his artificial robot partner played by Michael Ealy. Get it? That’s the gag. The robot is more human than the human. Heh heh.
Also starring Lili Taylor and Minka Kelly, who apparently Urban’s character is totally hot for. I don’t blame him.
The pilot blasts off this Sunday, and a new episode airs the Monday after. I’m not sure why they don’t just air both in a two-hour block.
