New Trailer and Images for Ron Moore’s Sci-Fi Show Helix

Helix TV Series

The Syfy Channel has released an official trailer for the first season of “Battlestar Galactica” reboot creator Ron Moore’s new sci-fi show “Helix”. Previously, we had a lot of really stylish short teasers, but this, I believe, is the first trailer with any real footage and plot and not just atmosphere.

So what’s it about? It looks a lot like a cross between “The Thing” and “The Andromeda Strain”. Lots of intense claustrophobia mixed with violent people and guns and, uh, monsters? Or zombies? Sounds like a good time to me! Not sure how they’re going to maintain a full season’s worth, though. The plot feels like a two-night mini-series, given the limited locale. Unless, of course, they’re doing an end-of-the-world scenario here.

The synopsis certainly seems to be heading in that direction:

When a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, they quickly find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation or total annihilation.

The cast includes Jeri Ryan, Hiroyuki Sanada, Billy Campbell, Meegwun Fairbrother, Mark Ghanimé, Jordan Hayes, Catherine Lemieux, Benoit Priest, and Kyra Zagorsky.

“Helix” premieres on the cable net in early 2014.
