So what exactly is in store for J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness”, the sequel to his 2009 hit “Star Trek”? If this latest trailer is to be believed (and I don’t see why it would be lying to me), then we’re looking at one crazy ass space action movie. If this is indeed Abrams’ last movie on the franchise (he having jumped ship over to “Star Wars” and all), then he sure is going out with a bang. I suspect he’ll “produce” the third movie, but won’t direct. I could be wrong, of course.

Until we find out for sure, see what Kirk and company are doing in “Star Trek Into Darkness”. In short, wild, crazy ass space action, from the looks of it.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

Starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Peter Weller, Bruce Greenwood, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Kirk saves the day and gets the girl this May 17, 2013.
