New Wanted Movie Poster is Pointlessly Dull

In “Wanted”, Russian director Timur Bekmambetov (the “Night Watch” movies) makes his Hollywood debut by directing a generic action movie starring Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman. It doesn’t have a whole lot going for it except for those two big-name actors, since even comic book fans will be turned off by the film’s basic honoring of the original comics, despite whatever the comic’s creator, Mark Miller, has said. (“Mikey likes it!”) Here’s a new, barely impressionable poster for “Wanted”. Eh. Why even bother?

A young man finds out his long lost father is an assassin. And when his father is murdered, the son is recruited into his father’s old organization and trained by a man named Sloan to follow in his dad’s footsteps.

Starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Terence Stamp, Thomas Kretschmann, Common, Angelina Jolie, Kristen Hager, Marc Warren, and David O’Hara.

Get wanted June 27, 2008.

Meh. Once again, does anyone care? Why didn’t they just really adapt the comics, rather than give us another generic “cult of assassins” movie? And judging by this poster, it definitely looks like the studio knew they couldn’t sell “Wanted” on the huge fame of James McAvoy.

Devil’s advocate, There’s alotta good actor’s in it. The script must be aw-ite. As for the poster, Most posters are terrible these days. All generic photoshop cheese. The one for Funny Games with Naomi Watts is only cool one I’ve seen in ages.
