New/Old Captain America The First Avenger Poster

New poster for “Captain America: The First Avenger”, which is identical to the first one, except this one has the actual movie title instead of just the word “Avenge”.

Born during the Great Depression, Steve Rogers grew up a frail youth in a poor family. Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Rogers was inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he was rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, General Chester Phillips offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment… Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by ‘vita-rays.’ Steve Rogers emerged from the treatment with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program. Three months later, he was given his first assignment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America has continued his war against evil both as a sentinel of liberty and as leader of the Avengers.

Starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Stanley Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, JJ Feild and directed by Joe Jonston.

The fact you had to do quick comic research means you must not read comics as much as the rest of us.

He was part of the Invaders during WW2 and the first real Superhero in the public eye. He Avenged for America in WW2 and was shortly introduced into the Avenger’s lineup when they first formed.

You are correct. However, there was absoutely no need to add “The First Avenger” to this movie whatsoever. So lame.

“The First Avenger” is just the big tease leading everything into The Avengers for 2012. Personally, I like it. It alludes to the WWII setting of Captain America’s true origins, and it’s great they’re not resetting his beginnings to the current conflict.

Plus, I see it as a dig at DC for being unable to present a cohesive, uniform DC Universe. The Justice League will remain forever grounded at this pace.
