Nice Futuristic Rifle/Gun/Thingie, Matt Damon

“District 9″ director Neill Blomkamp has managed to keep his latest sci-fi offering, “Elysium” pretty well hidden from the prying eyes of the paparazzi and Internet fanboys. Some set shots have leaked here and there, but nothing in the magnitude of, say, this first look pic at star Matt Damon packing a mean ol looking futuristic gun and looking like he’s ready to do some unsavory business with it. Check out the pic and an official synopsis of the film below.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

The film also stars Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Michael Shanks, Diego Luna, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga, Faran Tahir, Carly Pope, Talisa Soto, Ona Grauer, and Terry Chen.

Look for it March 1, 2013.

Matt Damon and action go hand in hand.

Matt Damon and his penis go hand in hand. Crap actor, i’d rather watch a block of wood.

        AWESOME comment! ROTFL!!!

Plot description sounds like the standard “rise up against oppressive upper class/rich douches” trope, but since “District 9″ managed to be great despite the predictable plot, can’t complain.

yay. Another Hollywood movie on “equality.” Marx would be proud…
