Nickelodeon’s New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Animated Show Rounds Out Cast

You can’t keep a pizza-chomping Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle down. Besides a new live-action big-screen reboot movie in the works, the mutated heroes in a half shell will also be returning to TV screens everywhere. Well, if you have the kids cable network Nickelodeon, anyway.

EW reports that Nick’s new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” animated show has filled out its cast, with the most notable being “Lord of the Rings” star Sean Astin singing up to voice Raphael. He’ll be joined by “American Pie’s” Jason Biggs as Leonardo, along with Greg Cipes as Michelangelo and Rob Paulsen as Donatello.

No word on whether intrepid reporter and turtle accomplice April O’Neill or hockey stick wielding vigilante Casey Jones will also show up on the new show, but my guess is Yes.

The turtles will be making their debut at this year’s Comic Con, but won’t hit the airwaves until Fall 2012.

Interesting! I think the hollywood voice talent could put a different feel to this. I mean i’m sure we’ll still get a Raph with a Brooklyn or Jersey accent, and Biggs definitely works for Leo. I actually say bring back Chris Evan as Casey jones (yeah I know it ant happening) and Sarah Michelle Gellar as April. I really liked the 2002 reboot pictured above and the subsequent sequel series, even the “Fast Forward” ones grew on me after a second viewing.
