Previously reported to be in the running for the role, former “The Last Airbender” actress Nicola Peltz has now been officially confirmed for the film’s female lead.
The Michael Bay official site made the announcement a few days ago, with a picture of Peltz and the headline, “Welcome Nicola Peltz to Transformers 4”. So I guess that makes it pretty much official, right? No word on who she’ll be playing, though.
Peltz, who can currently be seen on A&E’s “Bates Motel”, having long ago left her “Airbender” role behind her (and as you can see from the pic of her above, the little lady has, ahem, grown up quite a bit), will be joining Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor on the giant robots from outer space sequel.
Peltz will likely be playing Wahlberg’s daughter in the film, which would find humanity once again imperiled by an evil Transformer bent on world conquest or some such. “Transformers 4”, we’re told, will take place a few years after the events of the third movie, and will be shot partially in Detroit, Michigan.
“Transformers 4” is set to blow up screens next June 27, 2014.
