Nicolas Cage Discusses Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance at Comic-Con

If any of the recent superhero movies are prime for rebooting, Mark Steven Johnson’s “Ghost Rider” gets my vote. It’s pretty rotten little movie, and this is coming from a guy who watches Andy Sidaris movies on a regular basis. And while I’m hesitant to set aside some excitement for “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”, I’m curious to see how “Crank” masterminds Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor handle the material, especially since Cage actually gets to portray the titular hero this time around. Good or bad, it’s sure to be a wild ride.

If you’re curious to hear Nicolas Cage discuss the film with some lucky so-and-so at this year’s Comic-Con, check out the embedded video. Cage is always entertaining, and I love that he takes this sort of stuff so seriously. If you’ve got seven minutes to spare, I’d say it’s worth a watch.

About Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.

I WANT A TRAILER, Comic Con got one, give us one!!!

Cage is just an awesome individual. I would love to have a drink with him and hang out. He is another actor that, as he gets older, will have a ton of good roles heading his way. I like to think of when he reaches Michael Caine age/status. Nic Cage just seems like everybody’s drunk/crazy/slightly rich uncle that you always hear (good and bad) about but only get to see Every 3rd Christmas.

  • Eagle Eye

It will be intersting to see him playing Ghost Rider as well as Johnny Blaze. I really think this could be a great film if people give it a chance!!

    • jkgeezy

He already did that in the first Ghost Rider movie, which was God-awful.

      • Eagle Eye

He only played Johnny Blaze in the first one, not Ghost Rider!!

Ghost Rider had great visuals, decent casting, but an abysmal script that killed the movie. Hopefully we get something a little more action/horror and a lot less camp and cheese.

Agreed! The script was horrid. I honestly felt if they left out the henchman, and developed the finale more, it would have been solid. The Henchman were made up to be badass and then dispatched from the film in a combined 7 minutes lol! I liked the visuals, I liked cage as blaze, the script just didn’t really capture the whole “Spirit of Vengeance” thing or the intensity of the character.

Agreed TSTI! They really dropped the ball with the villains especially Blackheart! He should’ve looked and been badass when he got the souls!

Agreed TSTI! The henchman were cool ideas and then they did nothing with them. Definitely shoulda don more with Blackheart! Now that I think about it they kinda droopped the ball with all of them, especially Blakcheart though. He shoulda looked real badass once he had the souls of San Verganza. Ah well hopefully this time around we’ll get that intesity and horror side.
