Nightmare Reboot is a Planned Trilogy, Says New Freddy
A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake, 2010) Movie, Horror Movie News — By Nix on July 2, 2009 |
This isn’t really so much news. Ever since the success of the “Matrix” and “Lord of the Rings” movies, movie producers wake up every morning dreaming of making a trilogy of their own, and isn’t shy about telling people about it. So whenever they get attach to a project, invariably the word “trilogy” comes up. And so it is the case with Platinum Dunes’ relaunch of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, which according to lead actor Jackie Earle Haley (who will be playing Freddy himself), he’s already signed on for three movies.
The word comes from Bloody-Disgusting, who got the skinny from the nightmare man himself. BD also reports that actress Rooney Mara, who will be playing the new franchise’s new Nancy Thompson, has also been signed for a second film, which means her character will probably survive the first movie as the film’s Final Girl. How long she lasts in the second one remains to be seen. Characters just don’t last all that long in the franchise, although the original Nancy Thompson never actually took the permanent dirt nap in the original series, so it would be pretty shocking if the new Nancy didn’t survive past the second movie.
In any case, that’s the word. The new “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is being looked at as a potential trilogy. So what else is new?
Below: “One, two … three movies to kill! Sha-weet!”

I am sorry, but did the person who wrote this not see Nightmare on Elm Street 3
Dream Warriors. The original Nancy died in that movie at the end by Freddy himself. Anyway, can’t wait to see the 2010 Nightmare on Elm street!!!
