Nimoy in Star Trek 11, Shatner Out?

By Nix | July 10, 2007 (1:51 pm)

According to James Tiberius Kirk himself (aka William Shatner), he won’t be making an appearance in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek 11 (aka the OTHER J.J. Abrams project other than “Cloverfield”), but that Leonard Nimoy (who plays Spock on the show and movies) will. Say what?

Here’s the story from Mania.com:

William Shatner appeared on Live Video to talk STAR TREK XI which is being directed by JJ Abrams. He revealed a conversation he had with an inside source for the project stating that Leonard Nimoy (Spock) will indeed be appearing in the next installment of the STAR TREK franchise. The strangest part of this casting revelation is…William Shatner is “not” going to be in it.

AS has been mentioned, Star Trek 11 would be a prequel to the TV series and movies, and would follow a younger version of Kirk and Spock as they rise through Starfleet Academy. My guess is that Nimoy will make a cameo as a Vulcan (not necessarily Spock), but there’s just no room for Shatner.
