Directing “11 11 11” will be Darren Lynn Bousman, one of the boys behind the neverending “Saw” franchise. (Oh sure, they say the upcoming “Saw” will be the last, but who are we really kidding here?) So what’s this numbers-obsessed horror movie all about?
The 11:11 movement is centered on the emergence of that number in people’s lives that alerts them to angels or spirit guardians trying to communicate with them. Conspiracy theorists also point to the number 11’s involvement in historical events.
Makes perfect sense. On the eleventh day earlier this month, exactly at 11:11 a.m., I actually ate a cheeseburger for the first time in, dang, I think a week. Coincidence? I think not!
Bousman’s credits include three entries in the “Saw” franchise, as well as “Repo! The Genetic Opera” and the upcoming “Mother’s Day” remake. The film is the idea of producer Wayne Rice, who heard about the date and thought it would be a groovy idea for a movie. That’s just how genius works, people.
Here’s hoping it’s better (or at the very least, more gratuitously violent) than Jim Carrey’s “The Number 23”.
