So we can stop calling it “Batman 3″ now, because Christopher Nolan has revealed to Hero Complex that the title of his third Batman film will be called … “The Dark Knight Rises”.
We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones,
One of the “new ones” that won’t be happening is puzzle loving bad guy Edward Nigma, aka The Riddler, who Nolan says will NOT be the film’s villain. Or be in the film at all, actually. Previously, he had nixed Mister Freeze as a potential villain, which is just as well; there’s not a whole lot of “reality” there with a guy who can freeze things with a ray gun.
Which begs the question: so what role is Tom Hardy playing in this thing, if not The Riddler?
Also among the nuggets dropped by Nolan — “The Dark Knight Rises” is definitely not going 3D, though it will once again be shot for IMAX.
Hero Complex promises more to come later in the day, so we’ll keep this post updated when they update their article.
