Norman Reedus, flying high with AMC’s hit zombie show “The Walking Dead” (entering its third season later this October), is also one-half of the Boondock Saints, the vigilante heroes of writer/director Troy Duffy’s “Boondock Saints” action film franchise. So when you need to get an update on a possible third movie, you would think that Reedus would be one of the man to go to, right? Turns out, I’m not sure if Reedus knows more than we do.
When interviewed by IFC about the possibility of a third movie, Reedus sounded very optimistic:
I’m in L.A right now. I’m meeting with Sean [Patrick Flanery] and Troy [Duffy] tonight. I just landed a couple hours ago and tonight I’m going over to Troy’s house with Sean. It’s definitely in the works. Look for it. It’s gonna be crazy.
Whoa! Sounds good, right?
Not so fast, my friends. Not very long after, Reedus tweeted the following:
no part three. sorry guys

Well, that’s a kick in the balls.
Is it happening or not? My guess is, it all depends on whether writer/director Troy Duffy can put the financing together for a third movie. After all, it did take Duffy over 10 years to get part 2 made, and it’s only been three years since part two. Plus, it’s not like stars Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery are Murtaugh and Riggs old, they’re still relatively fresh chickens, so I would expect to see the MacManus brothers back on the screen sooner or later…
