It feels like “The Mummy” director Stephen Sommer’s “Odd Thomas,” based on the Dean Koontz book series of the same name, has been on the shelf for ages. Well, the movie, starring that kid from “Terminator Salvation” is finally getting a theatrical release, though you’re probably not looking at a wide release here. I’m guessing very limited theatrical spots, with the film probably hoping to recoup its production costs from VOD.
Until then, check out a new trailer for “Odd Thomas.” It’s been so long since I’ve seen anything from this movie, I can’t tell you if this is a brand spanking new trailer, or more of the same stuff, only this time officially released. Either/or, you can see why it’s going (mostly) to VOD.
Small-town fry cook Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) is an ordinary guy with a paranormal secret: he sees dead people, everywhere. When a creepy stranger shows up with an entourage of ghostly bodices—predators who feed on pain and portend mass destruction—Odd knows that his town is in serious trouble. Teaming up with his sweetheart Stormy (Addison Timlin) and the local sheriff (Willem Dafoe), Odd plunges into an epic battle of good versus evil to try to stop a disaster of apocalyptic proportions. Based on the best-selling thriller by Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas is a supernatural action thrill-ride from the acclaimed director of The Mummy and G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra.
Starring Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nico Tortorella, Patton Oswalt, and Willem Dafoe.
On iTunes and in theaters February 28th.
