A freak tsunami traps shoppers at a coastal Australian supermarket inside the building … along with a pack of tiger sharks.
What that little synopsis neglects to mention is that our band of 20-something pretty people isn’t just trapped in a supermarket with killer sharks thanks to a killer tsunami, but there’s also a gun-toting maniac who was robbing the joint moments before all that happen.
So basically: tsunami, supermarket, gun-toting bad guy, and sharks.
I shit you not.
Check out the first full trailer for Kimble Rendall’s “Bait”. The film was originally in production under “Highlander’s” Russell Mulcahy, but for whatever reason, he was replaced by Rendall, who gets sole directing credit on the film. I’m assuming he wants that.
The film has been in production since 2009, and you might notice that one of the stars is Alex Russell, who has gone on to star in the surprise hit “Chronicle”. Co-star Xavier Samuel has also gone on to do the “Twilight” films, and you might recall Sharni Vinson from one of the “Step Up” movies. I forget which. Other than that, the film’s also got Julian McMahon (really slumming it here), Cariba Heine, Lincoln Lewis, and Alice Parkinson.
Anchor Bay recently acquired the film, but no word on a Stateside bow yet. You’re likely looking at a direct-to-DVD/VOD later this year.
