So wait, when people were going around terrorizin’ and murderin’ each other at will in the first movie, it wasn’t anarchy? I guess not, because writer/director James DeMonaco’s sequel to last year’s Ethan Hawke/Lena Headey-starring hit is back for a second go’round and it’s more purge-ier than ever.
In the sequel, a young couple works to survive on the streets after their car breaks down, right as the annual purge is commencing. You’d think they would know better by now. I mean, how long has this Purge thing been going on? Stupid couple.
Luckily for them, Frank Grillo is there to lend a hand. Reluctantly. As it turns out, the real bad guys aren’t the thugs in the streets going around with baseball bats trying to bash your head in for the thrill of the kill, it’s actually old evil white people in tuxes and evening wear. They’re evil, those people. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL I tell ya!
Starring Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, and Michael K. Williams.
Purging with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer to the face this July 18th.
