Good ghost stories are pretty hard to come by these days. The keyword in that sentence, of course, is “good”. There’s certainly no shortage of potential chillers on the market, though most of them are either no-budget “Paranormal Activity” knock-offs or artsy-fartsy supernatural dramas that are heavy on boredom and extremely light on scares. “The Echo” director Yam Laranas’ genre effort “The Road”, however, has the potential to stand out, as evidenced by the trailer embedded below. If that isn’t enough to raise the hairs on the back of your neck, take a peek at the motion poster, which is actually pretty effective. You know, as far as motion posters go.

As always, here’s a synopsis to help set the mood:

A twelve year old cold case is reopened when three teens are missing in an abandoned road. In the course of the investigation, deeper and gruesome stories of abduction and murders are discovered. After more than two decades, the secrets of the haunted road may finally be revealed.

All of the aforementioned goodies reside below.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided.
