Open Road Films has officially nabbed the U.S. rights to Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming “Machete Kills”, which finds Danny Trejo once again back as the ex-Mexican Federale, fresh from chopping up Texas rednecks and putting Steven Seagal out of his misery. In the sequel, the heavily tattooed man of few words is conscripted into the services of the U.S. Guv’ment by the President himself in order to hunt down “a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.”
Yeah, that’s never a good thing.
Along with Trejo, the film co-stars Sofía Vergara, Mel Gibson, Alexa Vega, Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, Michelle Rodriguez, Cuba Gooding Jr., Edward James Olmos, William Sadler, Demián Bichir, and Marko Zaror.
And oh, Amber Heard, too, apparently playing Miss San Antonio in the movie. Odd, since Rodriguez is an Austin boy, you’d think he’d make Heard Miss Austin. Unless, of course, there’s someone else playing Miss Austin, who shows up and decks Miss San Antonio. I’m just spitballin’ here, folks.
Machete slices fools in 2013.
