Oren Peli Fighting Ghosts and Nature in New Film

Hopefully it won’t involve a bunch of people with a camcorder walking around a ghost town hearing things that go bump in the night. I mean, after “Paranormal Activity” 1 and 2, the upcoming “Area 51″, and producing “The Bay”, even Oren Peli would have gotten tired of the found footage shtick by now, right?

Right?

Maybe not. Peli and FilmNation, who he has partnered up with for his untitled horror movie, doesn’t come right out and say that Peli’s latest is another Found Footage flick, but they don’t come out and say it isn’t, either. The film, from Peli and FilmNation, would find a group of friends who “discover they are not alone after they become stranded in a ghost town overrun by nature.”

Peli is on something of a roll, having made a career out of turning low-budget, shot-on-a-camcorder movies into high-flying, box office gold. It remains to be seen if his “Area 51″ will continue the trend. Then again, as cheaply as they make these movies, I guess they don’t necessarily have to become bonafide hits to become, well, “hits”.
