If I recall correctly, Orlando Bloom’s bow-slinging elf warrior Legolas doesn’t have much to do with J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” book, but that didn’t stop Peter Jackson from suiting Bloom up as the deadly marksman for the upcoming two parts of his “The Hobbit” trilogy, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and “The Hobbit: There And Back Again”. Bloom has since shot his last scene for the trilogy, and as a farewell, here’s a rather interesting video of Bloom from the set.
Writes Peter Jackson:
A day after saying goodbye to Gandalf and Tauriel, it was time to farewell Legolas. What a great day it was, with Orlando battling a serious Orc for all 12 hours of shooting – part of the Battle of the 5 Armies for the third Hobbit movie. When we finally got the day done, we said goodbye to Orlando, had a couple of beers … and couldn’t resist doing this!
“This” turns out to be Bloom holding up a tablet with a video someone cooked up of his Legolas uttering the line, “They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard!” Repeated over and over again and mixed with song. Check it out. It’s pretty funny.
Legolas can next be seen in “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, opening this December 13th. If you missed it, the first trailer for the film can be found here.
