Wow, has it been five years since Sam Raimi last directed “Spider-Man 3″? Of course, he’s done one other film since then — 2009’s low-budget horror movie “Drag Me to Hell”. But you probably didn’t see it. Most people didn’t. Raimi’s latest is “Oz: The Great and Powerful”, a remake of Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland”. Wait, what? It’s not a remake of “Wonderland”? Huh, I could have sworn it was the exact same movie, minus the fat dudes. Apparently this is a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz”. Go figure. Please to watch the first trailer for “Oz: The Great and Powerful”.
When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
The film co-stars Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Abigail Spencer, Joey King, Zach Braff, Martin Klebba, Ted Raimi, Bill Cobbs, Tony Cox, and Tim Holmes.
Oz reveals all March 8, 2013.

Note: The format of the trailer is purposely “old school” for the first half. Watch it in full screen helps.
