Paco Plaza’s [REC] 3: Genesis Finally Gets an Official Poster

No fan-made poster this time, kiddies. Director Paco Plaza’s next installment in the insanely popular “[REC]” franchise finally has an official poster, which has been professionally embedded below for your image-gazing pleasure. And while I do think Plaza and company run the risk of beating a dead horse — I’m honestly not sure how much longer you can keep this series going without rehashing the same old material — I’m kind of excited to see how this one plays out. “[REC] 2″ was a huge surprise, so I’m hoping part three will hit the ball out of the proverbial park once again.

Here’s a synopsis for those who require such things:

The original REC crew are back, ready to submit their ensemble cast to another fight for survival against the zombie infection. This time to the backdrop of an original soundtrack. The new chapter will see the film “open up” by using a more traditional cinematographic style. However, the film’s roots have not been forgotten, and viewers will still be immersed in the action watching certain events unfold through the eye of the video camera. The action in REC 3 GENESIS encompasses the events of the first two films and after the sense of claustrophobia previously experienced.

The action now takes place miles away from the original location and partly in broad daylight, giving the film an entirely fresh yet disturbing new reality. The infection has left the building. In a clever twist that draws together the plots of the first two movies, this third part of the saga also works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future, REC 4 Apocalypse.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
