Paramount Pictures is going to bring us another new sci-fi based film. Deadline says that the studio is negotiating a deal in the $700,000 range to acquire screen rights to “Daughter Of Smoke and Bone”, based on Laini Taylor’s novel.
Amazon describes the book as follows:
Karou is a seventeen-year-old art student with a most unusual family. From his desk in a dusty, otherworldly shop, her mysterious, monstrous father sends her on errands across the globe, collecting teeth for a shadowy purpose. On one such errand, Karou encounters an angel, and soon the mysteries of her life and her family are unraveled–with consequences both beautiful and dreadful.
Since nothing is official just yet, there’s yet to be any casting announcements for some time.
Deadline also notes that there’s been heightened interest in the book among studios with two other bids made because of the potential for a big scale, visual effects-driven fantasy film that can connect with a young audience.
