Another day, another remake of an old horror film that no one really liked in the first place, but gosh darn it, it has (somewhat) name recognition, and Hollywood is gonna squeeze as much cash out of its dead, dry bones as it can before it’s thrown back into the heaps of cinematic history. The latest: Patrick Lussier is set to direct the remake of the 1981 Canadian slasher flick “My Bloody Valentine”.

Bloody-Disgusting has learned exclusively this evening that Patrick Lussier (Dracula 2000, White Noise 2) has been tapped to helm the remake of My Bloody Valentine for Lionsgate. Based on the 1981 film written by John Beaird and John Dunning, we’ve also been informed that the screenplay was written by Zane Smith. Here’s the logline for you to chew on: Ten years ago the sleepy town of Harmony, Montana was the setting for a series of grisly murders on Valentine’s night. Now, it seems the killer is back…or is he? Shooting begins late March/early April in Pittsburgh, PA.

If Lussier is involved, I’m guessing this remake will go to theaters, with a second and third installment (shot back-to-back, of course) scheduled to go direct-to-DVD. Lussier loves his direct-to-DVD horror sequels.
