Paul Bettany is a Fallen Angel in Legion
Horror Movie News, Legion (2010) Movie — By Nix on February 13, 2008
British actor Paul Bettany is probably the hardest working man in show business that no one has ever heard of. Well maybe that’ll change with his starring role in the upcoming “Legion”, which has God getting pissy and sending a troop of angels down to Earth to wipe out humankind. Luckily for us, the hardest working man in show business is there to stop them.
More:
Story follows what happens when God loses faith in humanity and sends his legion of angels to wipe out the human race for the second time. Mankind’s only hope lies in a group of misfits holed up in a diner in the desert who are aided by the archangel Michael (Bettany).
“Legion” will be directed by first-timer Scott Stewart, a former special effects man (he co-founded the special effects company the Orphanage), so you can probably expect a lot of really good special effects as angels clash and “misfits” run for cover.
Shooting commences in March in New Mexico.

Not many things sound stupid and sacreligious at the same time, but this does take the blasphemous cake…well, next to “The Da Vinci Code.”
Do not let truth stand in the way of a good story.
Michael is God’s right hand person. God is Almighty. Who can thwart him?
Satan was a former angel. He tried that. Where did that get him. Sounds like he is putting out a press release for future events.
I have to agree with sunnyforever. It doesn’t make sense that God would send a legion of His angels to extinguish mankind, but allow Michael to help save one person who has the Messiah. (What another Messiah?)
Now it would have been better to say that the “Legion” was demonic. That would make more sense with Michael conquering Satan again. In the Bible, the possessed man answered Jesus when He asked what his man was. The possessed man answered, “We are Legion, for we are many.”
Where in Santa fe are you shooting? I was really interested in being an extra for the movie. Thanx Melissa
Legion’s opening scene will begin shooting tomorrow night in an old warehouse in downtown Albuquerque. My job for the past 10 years has been/is in this warehouse. The movie folks, set designers, electricians, etc. showed up and it’s hard for us ‘civilians’ to get anything done. This is just too exciting! We may well only be seeing stunt men rappelling thru skylights and doors being blown apart. These behind-the-scenes people are an amazingly talented bunch, friendly and polite. The actors are nobody without these people.
thank you. i did sound for legion and i hope it ends up being really cool.
This movie is all twisted and to the point of being blasphemous. It is shameful that the makers of this movie would depict God’s angels as the bad guys. Legion, if you read the Bible, is one reference to the demonic angels, Luke 8:30. To use this as a description of God’s angels in the context of God’s judgement upon humankind is unspeakable. It seems that picture after picture is being produced with some sort of demonic/satanic theme. Vampires and the like that are being depicted as the good guys and God’s own angels now being depicted as the bad guys.
Hopefully the public will wake up an not allow ourselves and our children to honor such trash with our dollars and maybe, the producers will wake up and repent of this shame.

or maybe it will make money and people will beging to realize its just a movie and satan doesnt have some evil movie making plot to take over the world
shut up, not everyone believes in the same crap you do so be quiet.
Wow, that’s a brilliant retort. When you don’t agree with someone, tell them to shut up. Clever.
Perhaps people are concerned about their faith being exploited for financial gain by someone who wants to denigrate their beliefs. I imagine if some did the same to something you cared about, you might be offended as well. Then again, maybe not, as I doubt you have any principles at all.
I agree. Gabriel being wicked and God getting “fed up” with mankind? It’s honestly a poorly thought out plot with some extreme contridictions and distortions of truth. Christ died and was ressurrected to REDEEM mankind. Its makes no sense for God to suddenly say “wait, I changed my mind. Gabe, go kill the creation I love dearly because they upset me.” Then we have a baby from a mother (no dad of course) and a band of crass misfits. Not to mention the would be hero, Michael, the archangel (God’s go-to Angel) willingly disobeying the Almighty to defend a child who will supposedly save us. You don’t even have to know the Bible to see this plot is totally backwards. God would not kill off man and start anew. That negates the purpose of redemption through Christ. Stripped down, this movie is essentially a man vs God scenario, already a sickinging plot considering its satan who hates us and God who loves and protects us. Much as I like the actors, i will not watch this and I won’t support any type of media that paints God out to be a bad guy. That IS blasphemy.
Another issue is, why would another Messiah be depicted? Jesus is the Messiah, his mother was already Mary. The more I think of this, producers and crew are you so interested in making a buck that you would allow yourselves to be a part of this. The leadership of this venture has to be questioned and appears to be immature. This is past blasphemous, it is just plain childish, as in spiritually challenged, foolish, and silly. The story line and plot does has to be repulsive to any decent person. Who is your audience? Who ever it is, you should be ashamed to present this story to them. God is forgiving and loves you and has already sent His Son, Jesus Christ the Lord, to save the world, including you and me.

Don’t take it too seriously people it’s just a movie. Movies are for entertainment and what ifs. Here is something for people to think about though, what IF god IS tired of humanity? He would probably do something like what he did when Noah was alive except there would be no survivors. He didn’t promise that he would never try to wipe humanity, he just said he wouldn’t ever make a big flood again. The only proof (according to the bible) is the rainbow. What about all the animals that died in the flood? Did they DESERVE to die? To say that god would never do this is short sighted. Read the Whole bible and don’t just take snippets and make it fit what you want to believe besides….Little kids get tired of all toys eventually.
i agree god and i belive they say “is a vengeful god” why not, wouldnt it be blasphemy for you to assume you know gods plan, i mean if where throwing the blasphemy around who are we to know his plan
Blasphemy in the Bible (and in literal terms) is an “impious (unholy) utterance or action concerning God or sacred things. This includes lies about his behavior (see Matthew 12 for the severe ones) The movie is dissapoints me because they are distorted biblical characters (Michael, Gabriel) which is technically not blasphemy, but in the movie they are implying that God’s will is to wipe out mankind because he gave up on us. This contradicts biblical canon and the implications fabricated are blasphemy. Even the dictionary states Blasphemy is “the crime of assuming to oneself the rights or qualities of God.” You’re right about one thing though, we cannot attempt to get into God’s head. However, His word (the Bible) tells us what God is like and what He is not like. To repeat what God states about Himself is not blasphemy. Hope that helps.
People who don’t take their spiritual position seriously are often the ones who become blinded to the dangers of the true enemy of man. If God was tired of humans, Christ would not have come to redeem us. He would have let us kill eachother, or let us crash into the sun, etc, what have you. And yes, the animals were destroyed because we had dominion over them, we became corrupt and decadent, thus they did as well. If you read AFTER the flood you will even notice big difference in the description of animal behavior. Even then, Noah and his decsendants (still from Adam & Eve’s sin-tainted bloodline) were still suceptible to corruption (see Nimrod and baal worship). God could have started over for good, but he didn’t give up on mankind as a whole. Also, are you comparing God to a little kid? That’s disrespectful. Remember that God does truly love you specifically and all of us. He wants us to come to Himso we don’t fall victim to a mindset that allows hollywood producers to make a twisted story about Him, His angels, and especially His will for mankind.
Actually, you’re right. If you’ve read the book of Revelation then you what will happen to those who don’t believe.
Have you guys forgotten, God DID send the flood that first time. For all of you who DO read the Bible. That IS a FACT. And it’s not sacrilegious. But if you continue to read on, you’ll also know that God did give humanity one more shot, and that was to warn Noah about the flood. If Noah had been an idiot, we’d all been dead. But Noah heeded God’s word and build that damn ark. According to the Bible, all humanity basically started all over from all of Noah’s seed. If you continue to read on, God promised Noah he’d never wipe out humanity again, and as a sign, he sent the rainbow. This is all Biblical FACT. Go look it up if you don’t believe me. As for the rest, its all make believe. And if were just making things up its not sacrilegious cuz your not claiming its gospel. It’s only blasphemy if your claiming its the word of God. Now if your going to really make it convincing as make believe, you’d first have to God revoke all rainbow’s. It’s kinda like his signature of not destroying the world. Kinda like your free pass from destruction has been REVOKED
. And since God is almighty he’s got the right to revoke the rainbow. Then as God he can choose any form of genocide he wishes. Anything from the 10 plagues would of worked. Swarms of locust, pox, flood, famine, but in the end legion of angels are the most effective. Locust aren’t really that smart and tend to miss people sometimes. Angels are much brighter. Once again, read your damn bible. When pharaoh didn’t release God’s people, God sent the angels to kill the first born male of everyone except those who had the blood of goats (sheep/lamb) pained on their doors. Thus the whole passover thingy, cuz the angles passed over those houses. See angels have like built in first-born detectors in them, much more specialized than locust. Anyways, God, like any parent, is tired of his juvenilely delinquent children and letting the system get rid of them. But like any loving parent, he’s going to give his children one last chance to get their act together. He’s testing humanity like he did in the time of the flood. He’s sending a wave of angel’s to wipe out humanity, but he’s also sending them one more chance to redeem themselves in the form a brit…go figure. Anyways it’s an age old story with a lot of special effects and feathers. Will humanity rise above their base instincts and redeem themselves or will it finally drown in its own inadequacies. It’s going to come down to a small handful of people, just like Noah and his family, who will decide if humanity lives on or perishes. Nothing sacrilegious, nothing blasphemous, just a lot of make believe.
If humanity could just get it’s act together before the Legion of angels arrive, then God wouldn’t have to constantly ‘test’ his ‘wayward’ children. But of course, human’s being the flawed creatures we are, continue to try God’s love and patience. Go watch ‘The Hurt Locker’ or ‘District 9′ if you wanna see just how evil humanity can be. With all the good we do there is an equal if not more amount of evil. If you ask me personally, there is more evil than good in humanity. Truly god love must us dearly to not of wiped us off the earth long ago. If I was God I would of wiped us off the earth long ago and started over again. Humanity is like the National debt. Were so far in debt we can’t get out but we keep on going.
The word “FACT” is misused here
I am an ardent believer and I can’t wait to see this movie. Blasphemous? I don’t know of any religions being born of a movie. Also someone wrote that rainbows are a sign of G-d never destroying humanity again? Wrong!
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: 9 “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you 10 and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
Yes the use of the name legion is misleading but, I must be iconoclastic about it. If a stupid movie tests your faith and makes you wavier in your path then you have no faith. also to all those who say “research your bible” ummm research history and you will see that the bible has been added and taken away from just like it told us people would. first research the cross and you will find he was not crucified but, impaled. Also isn’t there a law that we shall not bow to ANY graven image? All fall short the glory of G-d so, shut up, stop judging trivial things and like G-d commands when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
G-d? Why? Are you afraid to type His name? God. Crucification, by the way, was the standard form of execution used in Rome in the 1st century. Have you ever heard of the Shroud of Turin? It may have not been Christ, but it was a depiction of someone being crucified and not impaled. There are many authorities today who are quite clear on how crucification was carried out. Since you like to quote the Bible, remember what Pilate said, “Why don’t you answer me, don’t you know that I have the power to release you or have you crucified?”
I will agree with you that is is “only a movie.” But it has sparked an interesting religious debate. Don’t you think?
G-d is not his name. It is a title. His name is YHVH (Yod-Hey-Vod-Hey), The crucifix you are talking about was not the standard form. The standard from was on a strait pole or a T pole, not a cross.
All of the forms of impaling and crucification were called crucified.
Yes the debate is awesome. where ever two or more are gathered,
I truly hope the Holy Spirit give you the wisdom (as I pray for us all) to intrepret the words in His holy book and use them appropriatly. FYI, Christ was in fact crucified and was stabbed with a spear by a roman soldier. Why are you bleeping out God, but not “da-n”? It’s pleasant to see you have research the Bible, but without faith you cannot gain wisdom from it. Without prayer and fasting, your faith will not increase. The faithful have many ways of showing their devotion or the way they worship, but the faithful can also recognize an attack. However subtle, the movie is a serious distortion to the point of a lie. Again, the faithful shoud not be shaken by this, however I can see how discomfort can come from it. Nothing about the movie’s plot is on par with what God has said in the Bible. Honestly, The trailer interested me, until it revealed the twisted plot. Another mislead exploitation of biblical record. Be wary of “history” as well. The bible is written as divinely inspired (see 2 Timothy 3:16), most history given in the modern era is either a distortion of true events written by the ungodly to strip Him of the glory, or fabrications written by those seeking glory for themselves.
If you like the movie then watch it…If you don’t then stop complaining about it and just not see it if it bothers you so much. It’s much easier.
If you want to watch the movie, do so. I would only advise a warning, not to let your own take on faith be misguided.
God doesn’t exist – wake up an take responsibility!
Truly, God does exist. He loves you too and wants so much for you to know Him better. (Luke 1:77), (Romans 10:8-11, 13), (John 3:16-17)
“God doesn’t exist – wake up an take responsibility!”
—says someone who probably voted for Obama and blames corporation and Bush for everything wrong in his life. Oh, if only the Messiah would pass universal health care and cap and trade, those evil corporations and Republicans would finally have to fix all my problems.
By the way, all you people saying everyone should just shut up because it’s only a movie are the same ones who would NEVER tolerate this if instead of God it was Allah, and if it was about Islam and Mohamed.
