Hey, if God has to die, at least it’s at the hands of a brilliant actor like Paul Bettany, who may be finally getting his due very soon when his period drama “Creation” lands on the big screen on September 25 in the UK. No word yet on a Stateside for the film, though here’s your first look at the trailer for it, starring Bettany as Charles Darwin (he of “Origin of Species” fame) and Jennifer Connelly as his wife (in the movie and in real life, the lucky bastard).
What happens when a world-renowned scientist, crushed by the loss of his eldest daughter, conceives a book which will prove the non-existence of God. This is the story of Charles Darwin and his master-work “The Origin of Species”. It tells of a global revolution played out the confines of a small English village; a passionate marriage torn apart by the most dangerous idea in history; and a theory saved from extinction by the logic of a child.
Starring Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Northam, Toby Jones, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jim Carter, Teresa Churcher, Zak Davies, Harrison Sansostri, and Bill Patterson. Directed by Jon Amiel (“Entrapment”, “Sommbersby”).
