Paul Rudd: That’s pretty much all you need to say to get me interested in a movie. If the guy is associated with a project, there’s a very strong possibility that I’m going to watch it, regardless of the production’s inherent worth. Remember Benny Chan’s “Gen-Y Cops”? I watched that nonsensical mess simply because Rudd was there, plain and simple. The talented comedian’s latest effort, Jay Roach’s 2010 chuckle fest “Dinner for Schmucks”, reunites Rudd with his “40 Year-Old Virgin” co-star Steve Carell, a pairing which should make for an evening’s worth of solid entertainment. In theory, anyway.
Here’s a short synopsis to educate your mind:
Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who “succeeds” in finding the perfect guest, IRS employee Barry (Carell), for his boss’s monthly event, a so-called “dinner for idiots,” which offers certain advantages to the exec who shows up with the biggest buffoon.
“Dinner for Schmucks” opens on July 23rd. You can find the trailer a few inches to the south of this passage. Enjoy! Via Apple.
