Director James Wan just scored a huge opening weekend with his low-budget horror sequel “Insidious: Chapter 2”, but he’s currently in-production on the big-budget “Fast and Furious 7”, the total production for which could probably make a few hundred “Insidious” movies.
Personally, I’m not sure why Wan would go from having total control over a film and, I’m guessing, getting a big ol slice of the pie when the film is a hit (which they invariably are these days) to just being another assembly line worker on a studio tentpole film that’s going to do well whether he or his grandma directs. Then again, I guess it’d be nice to have a big-budget studio tentpole film on your resume. It certainly didn’t hurt Justin Lin’s career. (Or maybe he is getting some nice slice of that pie?)
“Fast and Furious 7” is in-production as we speak, and Vin Diesel, as he is wont to do, has released an official behind-the-scenes pic from the movie via his Facebook page. The pic features Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his BFF Brian, aka Paul Walker. I’m not sure who the pretty lady is in the background, possibly a member of the crew? And hey, is it me, or does Brian look kinda beat-up there?
“Fast and Furious 7” speeds into theaters next year. That’s right, kids, it’ll be coming to a theater near you a scant year after “Fast and Furious 6”. Which pretty much guarantees this movie will have a super awesome screenplay that’s well thought-out!
Here’s a bonus shot of Vin Diesel, going to work, I assume. Either that, or a jog in the park. Either/or.
