Man, Frank Miller is really packing on the babes, isn’t he? How many of Hollywood’s A-list starlets does he currently have in “The Spirit”? Like, half of the town’s starlet populace? The latest arrivals are Spanish actress Paz Vega (”10 Items Or Less”) and model-turned-actress Jamie King (”Bulletproof Monk”). The two lovely lasses will be joining co-lovely lasses Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Sarah Paulson, and Stana Katic. According to Variety, Paz Vega will play the knife-wielding Plaster of Paris, and Jamie King will play Lorelei, a phantom siren.

“The Spirit” is directed by Frank Miller (writer/co-director of “Sin City” and author of the graphic novel “300″) based on his own adaptation. The action-adventure centers on a rookie cop who returns from the dead to fight crime from the shadows.

Lionsgate has U.S. and U.K. rights and plans to release the film on Jan. 16, 2009. Odd Lot principals Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker are producing along with Michael Uslan of Batfilm Prods.; Batfilm co-founder Benjamin Melniker and Steven Maier are exec producers, with Odd Lot’s Linda McDonough and Batfilm/Comic Book Movies’ F.J. DeSanto as co-producers.

“The Spirit” start principal photography today in New Mexico.
